tl;dr: Next Talk & Tinker Tuesday 10/22 6-9 pm @ River Valley Co-op, Equipment Donation Survey, Volunteers needed for Open Studio

Hi All!

Our next **Talk & Tinker Tuesday is on 10/22 from 6-9 pm at the Easthampton River Valley Co-op. Come out and join us for a fun pop-up makerspace event. Do you have a project you’re working on, a repair you want help troubleshooting, knitting or mending, or a creation of any sort you’d like to show off? Bring it along! Don’t have someting? That’s ok too! Come out and see what other people are working on, chat about ideas, tinker with some gadgets, do some lockpicking, or just hang out and get inspired. We’ll have basic tools and electronic test equipment available, eclectic knowledge to share, and a welcoming space open to everyone.

Things are coming together for getting our own space up & running this November, and to that end, we’re reaching out to our community (a.k.a. you) for certain equipment you might be interested loaning or donating to help fill out the space. We’re looking for things like workbenches and sturdy folding tables, a shop vac, hand woodworking tools, a vinyl cutter, tool cabinets, heavy duty sewing machine, projector & screen, and more. Check out the full list here Equipment Donation Survey and use the form to let us know what you can help with. Each item we receive through donation or long term loan gives us more room in our budget for more exciting things in the near future.

Another way to help us out is with your time and presence. We’re hoping to take part in Eastworks Open Studio event on November 2nd and 3rd, as that would be a great time to get to know the other tenants in the building and the surrounding community. There should be a good amount of traffic coming through both days, so having a few enthusiastic people to join me at the space and share some of what we’re planning to do there. I’m planing to set things up like a Talk & Tinker event, with a variety of projects to look at, 3d printers up & running, and whatever else we can get together in the short time we’ll have after signing the lease. If there are a couple people there to help, we might even be able to have a simple activity for our visitors. Anyway, this will obviously depend on having a few extra hands to help get things set up beforehand, and having people in the space during Open Studio. Having a good variety of projects to display will be a big help in making the space real too. An added benefit to helping at the event is that you can even bring along a project to work on while you’re there. Open Studio runs from 10-5 on Sat 11/2 & Sun 11/3, and we’ll have some work to do in the space beforehand too, so please get in touch here if you’d like to help out and/or if you have a project you’d like to display.

Be safe and keep making things!
