tl;dr: Talk & Tinker themes returning soon, upcoming schedule
Hi All!
Insert creative opening statement here. Anyway, we have a makerspace with lots of cool stuff in it for our members to make use of, but you might ask, "how do I know if you have the tool/part/widget or doohickey I need?" That’s a good question and one that we’re still working on, but for now there are at least two good options. You can always ask, of course, but you’re also more than welcome to explore the space whenever you stop in. Open drawers, look on shelves, poke around a bit and see what treasures you can find. Maybe you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for, or maybe you’ll find the inspiration for your next project. What could you find? Fabric, motors, lockpicks, Arduinos, LEDs, hot glue guns, batteries, buttons, leather, dremels, screwdrivers, saws, chisels, thread, wood, books to read, books to take, wires, a rainbow of masking tape, a paper cutter, knife sharpener, and lots more! And if organizing things is your jam, or you think something could be easier to find if it gets moved, just ask and we’re happy to hear your ideas. MakeFixHack is a living workshop, so things can and should move to fit the needs of the people using the space.
We’ve got some exciting things in the works this spring, including themed Talk & Tinker Tuesday with Homemade Musical Instruments on 4/22. If you have an instrument you built, repaired, modified, or customized, want to talk about doing those things, or just want to check out what others have done, come on out. And (pending a successful test build & collection of supplies) we’ll even have a fun instrument for you to build & play.
Along with some things we’re not quite ready to announce, later this spring, we’re going to have a table at Easthampton’s annual Cultural Chaos street festival on Saturday June 14th. It’s a great time to get the word out about our space, share projects we’ve been working on, and meet lots of creative people around our town. As that date gets closer, we’ll have more details about how you can get involved and help out.
