Hi all!
Welcome to the December newsletter. The tl:dr is some new equipment in the space, survey for more open hours, and holiday closures. Also, some pics of recent projects and more!

Updates

Some updates from the makerspace: We now have a laminator, for all your lamination needs, an ultrasonic cleaner for jewelry and other small items, and have plans in the works for a more effective filtering system to deal with some of the residual smells that escape from the laser cutter and other equipment.

Schedule updates

A few notes about the upcoming holiday schedule: We will be closed Thursday 12/25, Saturday 12/27 and Thursday 1/1 for the associated holidays. We will be open for all our other regularly scheduled hours for the rest of December and January. Plus, we will be adding some new Member Hours starting in January, so keep an eye on the calendar!
Also, we have a very short survey here where you can tell us what days and times you would like to see us add to our schedule: Makerspace Open Hours Survey Please take a minute to share your feedback and help us decide what other hours we should add. If you already responded to the recent poll on Discord, you don't need to do this one.

On 12/30 Talk and Tinker will be a special "Take it apart Tuesday" session where we'll be disassembling an outdated and non-functional 3d printer to see what useful parts we can find. Come out to help, bring your own item to deconstruct, or use the space for any of the usual reasons.

This January, Mending Mondays will focus on adding pockets to garments, mending holes with patches, and reattaching buttons. Come in to learn, share, and make progress on our mending pile

Project Pics

Here are just a few of the great projects that have been made recently at MakeFixHack. Want your project featured next time? Send us some pics and a description of the process/project, either here, or in the #MFH-pics-for-social on Discord

A holiday mug made using the Cricuit vinyl cutter
A Laser engraved slate coaster
A cool painted, lasercut box with a living hinge

Be safe and keep making things!
