tl;dr: Next meetup 12/19 @ New City Brewery, momentum is building, getting involved

Hi all! Our next meetup is on Tuesday 12/19 from 6-9 at New City Brewery and I’m sure we’ll have plenty to talk about. We’re hard at work sorting out the details needed to turn the idea of MakeFixHack into an official organization and things are starting to get exciting! The home made instrument theme of last week’s Talk & Tinker did get a bit squeezed out by a very productive discussion about those details, but not to worry, we will definitely have that theme for a Talk & Tinker again soon, and we’re working towards even more opportunities for events like that.

If you’re interested in having a hand in building the future of MakeFixHack, please get in touch! We have members hard at work developing our organizational structure and bylaws, setting up and running our current and future digital infrastructure (website, email list, wiki, Nextcloud, and more!), and planning for our first physical space, but there’s still lots of ways to help out. Design or hang flyers, help manage some social media or other outreach, develop ideas for possible workshops/classes/events you would like to see, or anything else you can think of that would benefit our community.

Keeping the email short this week since it’s a little late and there’s a lot of work to do, but If you want to get in touch with other local makers, hackers, crafty people, and other just generally interesting people, join us on Discord at https://discord.gg/HUhmBFNy. It’s a server set up by one of our members for all sorts of local topics: from bikes and native plants, to local events and community concerns. Plus repair, freecycle, tool exchange, and other "maker" topics as well. If you join, please make a quick post in introductions to help everyone get to know you.

Be well and keep making things!

Bill C.
