tl;dr: Next Talk & Tinker Meetup 11/7 @ Easthampton River Valley Co-op, no meetup on 10/31, Discord invite, ways to help out

Hi all,

The next Talk and Tinker Meetup is on Tuesday 11/7 at Easthampton River Valley Co-op from 6-9 pm. Since Halloween is this coming Tuesday, I won’t be hosting the usual off-week meetup at New City, but we will be back there again on 11/14. The website should have the most up to date details on meetups and events, but you’re always welcome to email here or ask on the Discord if you have any questions.

If you haven’t already joined us there but are interested, here’s an invite to the local Discord server we’re using: https://discord.com/invite/SMmtscCT. It’s run by one of our members and is a great place for all sorts of local conversations, from native plants and bike repair to nearby events and local politics. Plus channels for maker, crafting, & repair, freecycle, and out fledgling tool exchange. When you do join, please make a quick post in introductions to help everyone get to know you a bit.

If you’re interested in getting your hands dirty helping to bring a local makerspace to life, there are lots of ways to help out. You could help run a meetup, manage part of the social media, hang or design flyers, or any other ideas you have, we welcome the help. And if you or someone you know is interested giving a presentation on anything even tangentially related to what we’re doing, or want to run a workshop or class, get in touch at this email, on the Discord server, or at a meetup and we can make it happen. I’m also looking for ideas to help boost the usefulness of these newsletters beyond just event announcements. In particular, I’m looking to have a short writeup or link to a useful or interesting technique or resource, project someone made, or something similar. If you have an idea for something you’d like to see, or want to submit a little something yourself, please let me know.

That’s all for now,

Be well and keep making stuff!

Be safe and keep making things!
