tl;dr: No Talk & Tinker 12/24 or 12/31, ideas for upcoming events, setup of 044 continues, updated needed equipment list
Hi All!
The end of the year is rapidly approaching and we’re all very excited about what the new year will bring for MakeFixHack! Due to the holidays we won’t be having Talk & Tinker Tuesday for the next two weeks, but we’ll be coming back in the new year with lots of new event ideas and returning favorites. We’ll be having more themed Talk & Tinker Tuesdays again, including locksport and homemade musical instruments, Mending Mondays, and workshops on soldering, repair-oriented disassembly, 3d printing, and more. And there are also ideas in the works for events like a post-holiday tech support session (for help assembling, fixing, troubleshooting, or just understanding new gadgets), zine making/sharing, a linux user group, seed/plant swaps, movie night, and lots more! Do you have an idea for an event/workshop/class/whatever that you’d like to see or present? Let us know!
We’re still (and probably always) hard at work getting the space figured out and set up to be as versatile as possible. We have a fair amount of small parts and supplies storage, are working on getting the "vault" set up for some specialty tools, and are going to be adding a number of pegboards to the walls for easy access to frequently used tools. We are still looking for a number of items like stools, fabric scissors, a variety of hand tools, a projector, and more. We have a list here which we’re actively updating as we discover things we didn’t know we needed and find the right things to fill those needs, so check it out and let us know if you’re able to help out or know of something else we’ve forgotten.
