Hi all,
At this past meetup we had some fun experimenting with a vintage shortwave radio. We didn’t find any actual broadcasts, but did stumble across the frequency our phones use for NFC (Near Field Communication, used for contactless payment and other things), which then lead to an improvised theremin-like musical instrument with lots of waving of hands and phones around the antenna to change the sounds it made. Our next meetup is Tuesday 7/18 from 6-9pm in the community room at the Easthampton River Valley Co-op. That’s the link to the very brief survey I mentioned in recent emails. It’s just a few questions about what you’re looking for in this community and in a future hackerspace/makerspace/workshop. This info will help us plan the next steps in building this community and finding our future home. It would be much appreciated if you could go though it when you have a spare minute or two. It’s just 4 important multiple choice questions, plus a few optional short answers. It’s anonymous, hosted on our own server, and I’ll share the compiled results in a couple weeks.
