tl;dr: Successful music-themed Talk & Tinker! Next Meetup 2/6 @ New City Brewery, call for alternate location suggestions

Hi All!

Thanks to everyone who came out to this weeks Talk & Tinker Meetup! The home-made musical instrument theme was a hit and we had many new faces join us for the first time. There were lots of cool hand-made instruments, in progress plans for some really intriguing musical projects, and more fascinating conversations than I could keep up with. I can definitely say that this theme will be returning again the future! Our next meetup is at New City Brewery on 2/6 from 6-8 pm. If you haven’t been out to a non-Tinker meetup, these are more social as we don’t currently have workspace available, but still a great time to discuss projects, share ideas, and work towards the future of MakeFixHack. That being said, for the next month or so, we are sharing the space with Salsa dance classes, which doesn’t always make for the best conversational environment, so we’re open to suggestions for alternate locations. Our main needs are space for a group of 2 to 10+ people to sit together for free for a few hours on a Tuesday evening. WiFi, usable outlets, and reasonably priced (and optional) food and drinks or ability to BYO are definitely nice to have. If you have any suggestions or knowledge of suitable locations, please let us know. It’s always good to have choices, and new venues can help us meet more people interested in our project.

The following week we’re back at River Valley Co-op again for another Talk & Tinker Tuesday, this time with a locksport theme. More info to come next newsletter, but make sure to put it on your schedule if you’re just curious or very experienced. It should be another great event!

Keeping things short this week, but as always, if you have any ideas you’d like to share, interesting events you’ve heard of, or anything else notable to out community, feel free to reach out!

Be safe and keep making things!

Bill C.
