tl;dr: Talk & Tinker Tuesday on 7/9 @ River Valley Co-op from 6-9, we need your input on our website

Hi All!

Our next meetup will be a Talk & Tinker Tuesday from 6-9 pm on 7/9 in the Community room at Easthampton River Valley Co-op. If you haven’t joined us for a Talk & Tinker event before (or in a while), it’s a kind of pop-up hackerspace/repair cafe/co-working event, where we bring basic tools (screwdrivers, multimeter, bench power supply, soldering irons, glue, tape, etc) and you bring a project you’re working on (small electronic or mechanical repair, knitting, arduino, drawing, etc.) or just come to chat and see what others are doing. Basically anything is welcome assuming you can carry it in, work on it safely in a public area, clean up, and carry it out within our 3 hour time there. The co-op is at 228 Northampton st. Easthampton, and the community room is just inside the sliding exit doors (turn right if you go in the out, or to the left if you buy a snack first). Hope to see you there!

MakeFixHack is working on improving our website. To do this, we need feedback from the community, specifically from 3ish people who are not too familiar with it’s current look, so if you’re interested do not go look at it now (won’t catch me saying that very often). The approximate time commitment is 30 minutes sometime in the next week or two for an interview/conversation about it. Please email info@makefixhack.org if you’re interested in helping out.

Finally, several members of MakeFixHack (including myself) will be attending the Hackers on Planet Earth conference next weekend, and will definitely return with lots of great ideas and inspiration gained from conversations with NYC area hackerspaces in the Hackerspace Village, and too many incredible talks and workshops to list. It’s an amazing event that happens once every 2 years, so I highly recommend checking it out of you can. Presale tickets are still available till Monday at HOPE.net and let us know if we’ll be seeing you there!

Be safe and keep making things!

- Bill C.
